Frozen Star
04:18
|
|||
I'm falling with you.
This world is falling too.
Frozen star. Memory. All that's left is gravity.
We are bound by escape.
Attraction blown away.
Frozen star. Memory. All that's left is gravity.

Forevers End
03:37
|
|||
Sing me your best song
I will sing along I will sing along
Break me off a bit a little bit of that
makes me wanna live
give you something if you have
something to give
Cold mountains rising up behind us
forevers end maybe forevers end
Old rain wraps its fingers into us
forevers end ooh maybe forevers end
Sing me your best song
I will sing along I will sing along
Break me off a bit a little bit of that
makes me wanna live
give you something if you have
something to give
Cold oceans rising up inside of us
forevers end maybe forevers end
Old rain wraps its fingers into us
forevers end ooh maybe forevers end
Cold mountains falling down behind us
forevers end maybe forevers end
Old wind it wraps its fingers into us
forevers end maybe forevers end

I Will
03:16
|
|||
Well the storms whipped up and the rain fell hard
And it washed away the streets and it carried off the cars
And the houses tipped over and they started to float
I'm gonna build my house like I'm building a boat
And we all might live a little longer
So love a little harder be a little stronger
I will. I will.
When your living in the hills where its sunny all day
and the clouds they carry your worries away
you can raise your flag you can set sail
and the tops of the mountains are waiving farewell farewell

Sarasota Sand
03:45
|
|||
When Durwood went to paradise he rented a moving van.
Sarah sat shotgun with a silver wedding band
She' missed Alabama but she could understand
when he told her that his feet were missing that Sarasota sand
It was Christmas in a trailer. Dinners from a can.
And in the shade of the cypress trees they laid out careful plans.
They could have no guarantee when they went hand in hand
the seeds they'd sow would ever grow in the Sarasota sand.
There's some that find their way back home and some that never can
and theres those that leave no footprints in the Sarasota sand.
Well the tides rolled in and the tides rolled out on Durwood's promise land.
He left this world behind holding Sara's hand.
She stayed home long enough to rent a moving van
and she left behind a life time in the Sarasota sand.
There's some that find their way back home and some that never can
and theres those that leave no footprints in the Sarasota sand.

Irish Airman
04:19
|
|||
I know that I shall meet my fate somewhere among the clouds above.
Those that I fight I do not hate. Those that I guard I do not love.
My country is Kiltartan Cross. My countrymen Kiltartan's poor.
No likely end will bring them loss or leave them happier than before.
No law no duty bade me fight. No public men. No cheering crowds.
A lonely impulse of delight drove to this tumult in the clouds.
I balanced all brought all to mind. The years ahead seemed a waste of breath
A waste of breath the years behind. In balance with this life this death.

My Papa's Waltz
03:47
|
|||
The whiskey on your breath
Could make a small boy dizzy;
But I hung on like death:
Such waltzing was not easy.
We romped until the pans
Slid from the kitchen shelf;
My mother's countenance
Could not unfrozen itself.
The hand that held my wrist
Was battered on one knuckle;
At every step you missed
My right ear scraped a buckle.
You beat time on my head
With a palm caked hard by dirt,
Then waltzed me off to bed
Still clinging to your shirt.

Everybody Lies
04:10
|
|||
Nobody's saying what they want to say
can you tell me how it got this way
is this the best we can do
Somewhere inside somewhere down deep
we all got something that we're trying to keep from getting through
aint it the truth?
Everybody knows how the story goes
there is no divide. You cannot deny
everybody lies
You win the war you get to keep
your point of view your history
you pick and choose
yeah you call it the truth.
Everybody knows how the story goes
there is no divide. You cannot deny
everybody lies
Nobody's saying what they wanna say.
Can you tell me how it got this way?
Lies. Lies. Lies.

So Long Heaven
03:22
|
|||
So long heaven. I'm crossing over.
Take these white wings off of my shoulder.
Take this halo it don't fit right.
Where I'm going I've gotta travel light.
So long heaven its been good to know ya
I gonna start making my way home
Going back down to where I belong...So long heaven
I'll be missing angel singing.
All of those sweet psalms my ears are ringing.
Take these white robes I'll wear a tee shirt
some old blue jeans I'm ready to hit the dirt
So long heaven its been good to know you
gonna start makin my way home
I'm goin back down to where I belong
Open up the gates I'll let myself out
anything is better than livin on a cloud
where everyones a saint
you always gotta think out loud.
and theres a strange weight pulling me down…
Sunny acre on a southern hill
apples in blossom hear the whippoorwill now
there's a small house under a big sky
and thats my family there waitin on a new life
so long heaven its been good to know you
gonna start makin my way home
goin back down to where I belong
and I hope I make it back to see you
and that my life is long and strong
and you watch over me while I'm gone..
so long heaven so long heaven...

All I Remember
03:04
|
|||
Empty house end of the road
the door stands open rains on the floor
memories callin little stains on the wall
empty boxes scattered in the halls
and all I remember now
all I remember now
is the love
every detail every sound
like a roll of kite string coming unwound
and all I remember now
all I remember now
is the love…is the love
now I'm standing on these stairs
like I did that day
when I turned away from everything
that we had made I said I hated you
I thought I hated you.
but all I remember now
all that mattered anyhow is the love.
The love. The love. The love.

Ben Shannon Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Writing songs is a way of participating in a conversation about what meaning my little life and the world we all share might hold. Music has been a portal into the language of emotion. Songwriting, specifically, is a tool of survival that I've been able to use to manifest and maintain myself. These days I strive to be careful with the words I sing as they tend to have a way of coming true. ... more
